Purple Fleece, located in Stockton
Springs along the mid-coast of Maine, presents another option for
weavers, spinners, and other fiber artists by offering yarns for
weaving and knitting, sheep fleece and other fibers for spinning
and felting, equipment and supplies, dyes, and individualized classes
for those that want to know more about the fiber arts.
For the weavers and knitters, we stock
a wide range of yarns from companies including Plymouth, Brown Sheep,
Harrisville, Louet, Le Clerc, UKI, Silk City, Maysville Klippan-Bergå,
Universal, Briggs & Little, Green Mountain Spinnery, and Reynolds.
Fibers for the spinners and felters include fleece from Merino,
Romney, Lincoln, Finn, Coopworth, Shetland, and Corriedale breeds,
, silk, mohair, angora, camel, cashgora, hemp, and alpaca. We add
new yarns and fibers frequently and continually add to our equipment
and supplies as well. We carry looms and wheels from Ashford, Le
Clerc, Louet, Harrisville, Beka, Babe's Fiber Garden, and Schacht.
Purple Fleece also offers both one-on-one
and small group classes in weaving, spinning, and knitting, felting,
and dyeing. Hours are flexible to suit the needs of the student.
The studio overlooks lovely perennial gardens with views of the
water. B&B is also available for out-of-town students.
Purple Fleece is open Tuesday through
Saturday from 11am to 5pm or by appointment. We'll make every effort
to provide the products you want, the service you deserve, at prices
